Gunpla Build - High Grade Zeta Plus (Build) 2025-11-09

Alright, let’s see what kind of spread we get for this $33 kit:

In terms of sheer runner count, this is actually one fewer than the ZII which, as I mentioned before, is an extremely comparable build.

However, one of the ZII’s runners is dedicated almost entirely to its massive rifle, and some of the Zeta Plus’ runners are quite big, so let’s just call it (close to) even.

Sometimes I get a bug up my ass about a particular model. I’ll be convinced that it’s the coolest thing, and I absolutely need to have it.

In most cases what happens is:

I get the kit
My interest cools rapidly
It takes its place among the Pile of Shame.

Lately I’ve been trying to counteract this behavior by forcing myself to sleep on potential kits for several weeks, or even months. If after that time I still want the kit - and assuming it’s still in stock - then I can go for it. Otherwise, it was simply not meant to be.

This has already saved me from making a few regrettable purchases, but there’s also at least one that I’ve been sleeping on for almost the entire calendar year. In all that time I haven’t lost interest in it, so I finally decided it was time to grab and it go:

So let’s get this done before it lands on the backlog. Let’s build the Zeta Plus as seen from Gundam Unicorn.

Darilbalde Decals 2025-10-13

Lsat year I built a whole bunch of variants of the Dilanza, using this big sheet of Witch From Mercury-specific water slides plus them up:

The sheet also happened to have a whole section of decals just for use on the Darilbalde, and I vowed to one day put them to good use:

The only problem is that those decals are meant for the original version of the model, without all the extra weapons and accessories that came in the Expansion Set. And it’d kind of look weird if all that new gear had no decals at all, so I put the project on hold until I could figure out what to do.

In this case my patience bore fruit, as I recently discovered that G-Rework put out their own sheet of waterslides to cover all the weapons and accessories in the Expansion Set:

After a so-so build, we follow it up with a so-so photoshoot. True to my fears, the legs kept falling off, and quite frankly after a while it became too much for me to deal with.

In the end I took less than 30 photos in total, which is always a sign of a bad shoot (I think my typical average is over 40, with particularly good sessions getting into the range of 50-60+).

I’m just going to show you a handful of the good photos, make a few remarks here and there about some of the other problems I faced, and then I can move on.

Since this model is just a modified verison of the original Farsia, we get the instruction manual for that model, plus a small insert for all of the new or modified build instructions:

And then we get a mix of new and recycled runners:

It’s … not a whole lot. I’m not sure what I was expecting from this build, but it was more than this.

But let’s not judge it quite so soon.

Gunpla Build - Real Grade God Gundam 2025-09-20

It’s time to build something off of my Shame Pile. It’s a Gunpla that’s been partially built and sitting in an open box in my basement for two years.

I know what you’re thinking - “That’s the God Gundam! How you could not finish something like that?” The answer is simple - this was the first time I intended to decorate a Real Grade model with a full sheet of waterslide decals, instead of the pack-in stickers. I almost immediately got intimidated by the prospect, and put it down.

Since then I’ve managed to do it, not only on a Real Grade but a few Master Grades as well.

Now that I know that I have what it takes to do waterslides, it’s time to step into the ring again for a rematch.
