Now that we have a plan of attack, let’s build:

Feet

These are built the same as most of the other Zaku’s I own. Nice and simple.

I went all out when it came to detailing the bottoms of the feet. That’s what happens when I have a plan of attack ahead of time:

It’s not much, but we can already see a hint of the amazing color contrast we’re going to get with this model.

Alright grunts, let’s roll up our sleeves and make this Zeon abomination into the pride of Earth Federation!

This is the part where I show you the runners, which is normally something I do in the name of tradition more than anything. But this time I’m excited to talk about them. When we last left off, we talked about how this Zaku’s coloring isn’t exactly consistent between different depictions and illustrations. Now we get to see what colors they molded the model itself in. Which, if any depiction will it line up with?

Gunpla Build - Real Grade Nu Gundam - Jet Effect Parts 2021-12-11

Today we are going to take a look at Bandai’s Jet Effect accessory set:

Basically, they are a bunch of parts that can look either like energy blasts or thruster exhaust, along with as clear parts that let you hook them up to an Action Base.

As the packaging shows, you can use them with everything from mobile suits to Dragonball Z figures, but it is not a coincidence that they were released right around the same time as the Real Grade Nu Gundam and RG Sazabi, as these were (literally) tailor made to use with their funnels.

This build has been taking a long time, and it was starting to wear me down. After building the frame, I went a few days without touching it, before finally getting into a nice little groove at the very end of the month. I decided to say “screw it”, and blitzed though the rest of it over the course of two nights. Here now, on the final day of November, I’ve finished the Nu Gundam. There’s still more to do (poses, photos, more size comparisons, examination of all its gimmicks), but at least I can say I finished a model this month (Hello Kitty notwithstanding).
