In our last post, we looked at some of the particulars of the build process for the Gelgoog Marine Commander Type. Now let’s look at some of the particulars of the finished build. Remember that the model is already completed, so there will be few work in progress photos here. It’s a bit different from my usual format, but let’s see how it goes.

Because I had to prime and spray paint so many different body parts, this was not one of those neat, orderly builds where I went from one section to another. Quite the opposite in fact; it was as chaotic and disorganized as any build I’ve ever done.

All of which is to say that I have almost no work-in-progress photos, and as a result, this particular post is rather light on photos (and most of them are from the finished build).

Speaking of which, here is the finished build:

I know I said I’d start the year off with a Witch from Mercury kit, but I ended up changing my mind. One day I had all the parts for the GWitch kit lined up and ready to go, and the next I’m putting them back and pulling another kit off the shelf, one that I knew might turn into a month long slog.

I can’t really explain myself. It’s just a quirk of the way my mind works. For whatever reason I decided that this was the time to take on this particular challenge. So here we go.

Let’s try and build the Gelgoog Marine Commander Type - AKA Cima Garahau’s Gelgoog from Stardust Memory.

Gunpla Build - High Grade Gerbera Tetra (Final) 2022-05-14

Let’s get right to it.

First off, I decided to use the black backdrop again. My rudimentary understanding of photography lighting told me that a kit as bright and shiny as this one would look overly bright near the top, and overly covered in shadow on the bottom, which is not necessarily what you’d want. But in this case, that’s exactly what I was going for. I feel like this is the way mobile suits are often drawn when in outer space - and since the Gerbera Tetra fights exclusively in space, I thought it might be a neat visual effect.
