We move away from the EZ8 and onto the Kämpfer. As I was opening the box I realized that this is only my second Zeon mobile suit model, and that all my non Zeon models are all Gundam variations. I guess I need to mix it up more.
I’m already intrigued about this build. The box for the Kämpfer is bigger than that of the EZ8 -
And when you take out all the runners, it looks like there are a lot more pieces. But it turns out that both kits have the exact same number of runners.
Still, the truth is that some of the Kämpfer’s runners are bigger (which explains why there seems to be more pieces), and some of its parts are big and bulbous, like any good Zeon mobile suit (which explains the size of the box).
The instruction booklet is practically identical in design to the EZ8’s, right down to using photos to point out the location of decals. I guess this also means I’ll have to be careful and look for any parts which need to be painted.
My first two nights of building were devoted to nothing but weapons. If that sounds like an absurd amount of time, it won’t after you see that the Kämpfer is armed to the teeth:
You’ll notice that the weapons come in pairs. And it just so happens that the kit comes a pair of large, grey runners with identical sets of pieces. Save for one tiny little piece, everything on these runners is used to build weapons. This partially explains why it seems like the kit has a ton of pieces.
Now, I’d love to show you all those weapons up close, but with so many of them, it would make this post a little too long. I’m going to save them all for the next entry. Until then, stay tuned, and take a look at the gallery.
