Continuing from Part One, we look at the Maganac’s lower torso.
First off is the feet. They are made of just three pieces stacked on top of one another.
This is an extremely simple design to be sure, but since all three are different colors and different shapes and sizes, they look quite nice when assembled:
The Maganac may have the plainest, simplest set of legs I have encountered on a model kit:
The knees look kinda cool and mechanical, I guess? Oh, and they look a lot like a pair of khaki pants, which makes sense considering Maganacs are meant to fight in the desert.
I am not sure whether the ankle guards are part of the legs or the feet, but they are my favorite among the three. They offer a sneak peek at the design motif we will see further up the body - orange-on-brown, with segmented, geometrical shapes.
Here is the lower torso:
This section is interesting in that it is actually longer (taller?) than the upper torso. This is not necessarily unheard of, especially in modern mobile suit designs, but it feels different here. In those other designs, the lower torso is actually rather small, but the skirt armor is long, usually to cover the mecha’s extremely long legs. Here, the torso itself and the skirts are all long, and the whole section feels like a part of the torso rather than the legs, if that makes any sense.
Finally, here is the entire lower half fully assembled:
In the next post we will tackle the upper half, AKA the only section left through process of elimination.
