Christmas time means gift cards, and these days there’s nothing I like getting with gift cards more than model kits. Due to how much Gunpla typically costs, I can easily get pretty darn close to $25, or $50, or $35, or whatever balance I have to spend. That means no lingering balance on the card, and very little out of pocket costs for me. It’s a win win.
This season I got an excellent haul:
I feel bad grabbing four kits at once, especially after complaining about the current model kit shortage, but if everyone else is going to scoop them up with reckless abandon, why can’t I?1
I don’t think any of these picks are terribly out of character for me. There’s one Gundam Wing kit, with tracks with some of my most recent builds. There are two One Year War era kits, which is extremely typical of me (I think I have more OYW era models than from any other Gundam setting). The only real oddball of the bunch is the Victory 2 Gundam, which actually isn’t as odd as you think. I just started watching Victory Gundam, and it felt appropriate to find something from the show to add to the team.
The only question now is which one to build first? I think it has to be the Zaku I Sniper Type. I need a bit of a break from building Gundam-type kits, and a Zaku is the perfect antidote.
Look forward to some build posts in the near future!
- I don’t actually think four kits is reckless abandon, not after seeing people with stacks of 9, 10, 11 kits or more. [return]
