Back when I ordered the Clear Second V, I also got a bunch of other kits, including three different Haropla. For whatever reason the Haros came in a separate order which only recently arrived. Let’s crack them open and crank them out:
About these Haropla
All three of these Haros are the “circuit board” type rather than the “keyboard” type. I’m not sure how Bandai decides which style to use for any given model, nor am I sensing any discernable pattern.
Build #1 - Clear Pink Momoharo
In Gundam Build Divers, all new players in the virtual world of GBN has a Haro as their default avatar. But one the show’s supporting characters named Momo gets a customized version with cat ears, hence the name Momoharo.
It’s basically a standard Haro with the same kind of special cat ears that we last saw on the Hello Kitty Haro:
Now, on the original, non-clear version of this model, the inner circuit board - and by extension its eyes - is made of blue plastic. But I guess Bandai decided that blue plastic would look weird sitting behind clear pink plastic, so they made the circuit board on this version grey. That means you’ll have to paint the eyes if you want them color accurate (which you probably due, because the grey eyes look far too dead and boring):
One thing I didn’t realize until now is that you can fold the ears in:
Overall it’s a cute and colorful addition to the lineup.
Black Tri Stars Haropla
This is a Haro that is inspired on the popular Black Tri Stars squadron.
In addition to a custom color scheme that resembles the squad’s trademark Dom’s, the model also comes with a number of stickers; two for the team’s custom logos:
As well as a choice between the three unit numbers for Gaia, Ortega, and Mash. I chose Mash’s number 02, though not for any particular reason:
This is the second Haro in a row where I needed to paint the eyes. They’re supposed to be a sort of hot pink, and I wasn’t quite able to replicate it. Hey, I did the best I could.
Overall, I really dig this one. The clear plastic is so dark that it isn’t that transparent, but it’s also clearly not translucent. It’s a cool look.
I also love the Dom-esque colors, as well as the stickers (which give it that extra bit of personality).
Gundam Base Haropla
Last but not least, we have a Haro in the Gundam Base color scheme (not to be confused with the other Haro in the Gundam Base color scheme).
This is the only one of the three where the eyes are color accurate out of the box. It’s also the only one that I topcoated to give it a nice matte finish:
This one comes with two Gundam Base stickers; one for its cheek, and one for its flap:
While this is the simplest of the three, it might be my favorite. I adore the blue and white color scheme of the Gundam Base, and those yellow eyes are so bright and striking.
Conclusion
I could probably build one of these Haropla in my sleep by now, but they’re still a lot of fun once they’re complete. For now, I can’t think of any other colors or styles that I’m interested in, but that could always change. For now, I’m pretty happy with my current lineup.
