Gunpla Build - High Grade Wodom Pod (Photos)

The Wodom Pod is ready to launch and protect the people of Eldora:

This model does an excellent job of capturing the essence of the original Wodom in a smaller (and perhaps slightly less alien looking) package.

I also really love color scheme. The turquoise pops so nicely against the black and white (and that little bit of purple in the eye is another a nice touch).

Turns out that you CAN see that sticker that’s underneath the rear skirt

Gunpla from the Build subseries can (and should) be as colorful as they’d like, but the Wodom Pod is one of the few that truly embraces this freedom.

Size Comparison

So, how much taller is this model compared to other High Grades? I thought it made the most sense to compare the Wodom Pod to one of its teammates. Here it is (with its knees slightly bent) next to the Earthree:

And here it is with the legs fully extended:

Is it taller? Yes, but not unreasonably so. If it were as big as the original Wodom, Earthree would be lucky to reach its knees.

Action Poses

Despite having no handheld weapons, or a normal head, or a normal stance, the Wodom Pod is surprisingly poseable. You can do all sorts of running and jumping poses:

And action kicks:

And here is my best attempt at replicating the Turn A style running animation:

Then we have the arms to play with:

I don’t normally like having the arms out; they look a little too vestigal for serious poses. But they’re great for comedy poses, as they remind me of the arms on a Tachikoma:

One thing you should know about the arms is that the ball-shaped joints can pivot in either direction, meaning you can get some crazy bends out of them if you really want to try.

And if you look closely at the photo above, you can also see that they’re liable to pry apart if you move them around a lot.

For our final action pose, let’s put it into flight mode:

Granted, in the case of the Wodom Pod “flight mode” just means tucking the legs in, but I guess it still technically counts.

With Wodom+ Armor

Now let’s throw the extra armor on to make the Wodom Pod+:

I still think the blue clashes a bit with the existing color scheme, and I’ve come to the conclusion that Mecha Gaikotsu was right; the inside of the head armor is not completely hollow, but it’s hollow enough to look like a bit of an eyesore:

That’s a huge shame, as it would be really cute for the Wodom Pod to have a big bow on her head. But it just doesn’t look good enough.

Conclusion

A simple build with just enough playability, I think this is a no brainer for any fan of Build Divers Re:RISE OR Turn A Gundam (and if you’re like me, and you love them both, then all the more reason to get it).

If I had a complaint, it would be that the build itself wasn’t quite as unique as I thought it might be. As weird as it may look, it is still humanoid enough in shape that most of the body parts come together as you might expect. It is what it is.

Coming Next

I’m going to try and squeeze out one more build this month, though I make no promises. But hey, at least I knocked one out to keep the monthly streak alive!
