The Desultor is assembled and ready (to commit some war crimes). Let’s take a look:
Spoiler Preface!!!
Once again, I’ve recreated some scenes from a pivotal moment in The Witch From Mercury. You may want to skip this post if you haven’t watched the show.
This was a significantly better build than the Schwarzette. Both in terms of the build process, as well as the quality of the final result, this was much more similar in nature to the Darilbalde. Both models have no major seamlines, and are pretty much color accurate out of the box.
It is the kind of experience I expected from all of the GWitch kits, but sadly it seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
Ironically, despite looking so good, and despite having so many accessories, I didn’t have a lot of fun during this photoshoot because I couldn’t think of all that many interesting action shots. I guess that’s what happens when two of your main accessories are missile pods without any effect parts, and a troop transport without any troops.
Still, I did the best I could.
Some standing poses with the rifle:
Here it is with (almost) all of its weapons strapped on:
It really does remind me of a Zaku, in that it looks great no matter how much (or how little) gear it’s got on. It never looks too naked, or too overloaded.
Here it is with the troop transport:
The accessory can’t really do much of anything, but I still think these are interesting shots because of how unique this is. We don’t often see mobile suits being used as giant humanoid APC’s.
This arm blade did not come out very well, which is weird considering I used a metallic Gundam Marker (which usually leads to a very nice finish):
Thankfully this one, which I hand painted, fared much better:
The bazooka’s grip is moved all they way up to the front, which actually makes it much easier to do firing poses:
But sadly it also makes it a lot harder to do two-handed poses:
Let’s wrap it up with that iconic scene:
Conclusion
A fine looking model with a lot of stuff, but surprisingly not fun to play around with. But at least it will look good on my shelf with all the other Jeturk models.
