Gunpla Build - High Grade Dragon Gundam (Photos)

The Dragon Gundam is ready to bring honor to the Shaolin Temple.

Gundam Fight! Ready … Gooooooooooooooooo!

In terms of pure visual design, this is another extraordinarily high quality G Gundam High Grade. Everything is on point:

Sadly though, I did not have fun posing this model. The biggest pain point are the hands. They’re tucked so far into the Dragon Fangs that they’re really hard to remove and reattach, which is a problem considering how any different types of hands and accessories this thing has.

Another problem is that the ponytail tends to get in the way. You can’t move the head very far without the hair bumping up against the Feilong Flags stored in the shoulders, meaning that for many poses you’ll have to remove it before repositioning the head.

Granted, none of these operations take a lot of time in isolation, but they add up. The result is that it took a lot longer to shoot the Dragon Gundam than lots of other High Grades, which is a real problem considering just how much stuff it has to pose with.

I did as much as I could as best I could, but I only had so much motivation for this one.

Also, if I’m being honest with myself, these G Gundam kits are exposing how bad I am at coming up with poses that demonstrate movement and motion, which is a real liability when you’re working with melee combat-oriented mobile suits. If I were better at it, or if I didn’t find the process so frustratingly hard, I might be more willing to tough it out and stick with it.
